Position Summary:
One of our banking clients is seeking a GUI developer for their Equities IT team to further develop an in-house regional sales trading system that will need to process high volumes of market data and order data in real time. The successful candidate will be exposed to the challenges of front office application development with the potential to grow into a more senior developer role with expanded responsibilities covering larger scale applications / locations.
Responsibilities:
- GUI design, development and maintenance of a new in-house sales trading application.
- Work closely with the project team consisting of project manager, lead developer, and business analyst to develop a system that not only implements the business requirements.
- Capable of handling with grace the large amounts of market data, order data, and other data feeds, presented in an easy to use efficient user interface.
- Lead the design of the user interface while pushing the threshold of the development environment, with frequent input and feedback from the development team and the business users.
- Involve hands-on development to deliver regional solutions in a fast-paced business environment while maintaining a clean technical architecture that is ‘future proof’, capable of a shelf life of 5+ years.
- The candidate will be expected to additionally assist in supporting production systems, and work with quality assurance teams to identify and resolve bugs.
- 3+ years of C# or equivalent Windows application development experience, preferably with experience in real-time systems.
- Have a logical approach to solving problems consisting of large amounts of raw data.
- Have a strong interest in technology and be passionate about providing robust, scalable, high-performance solutions.
- Be a team player with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Desirable to have experience in cash equities development environment.
- Strong GUI development skills are essential, 3+ years experience is expected.
- Experience in designing and developing efficient workflow focused user interfaces.
- Exposure to recent languages such as Flex, Silverlight will be highly desirable.
- Comfortable with writing simple stored procedures and SQL database queries.
- A proven track record of working through the complete software development life cycle.
- Comfortable with working in an agile development environment.
- Preferable to have technical documentation skills.
- Background in working in Unix/Linux environments, comfortable with writing shell scripts will be beneficial.
- Minimum 3 years of Financial IT and/or related experience.
